Thanks for coming to our site,
Heating with shelled corn is one way to save on winter heating bills. The cost of some energy is down, plus the price of corn has come down from a year ago, more then $1.00, to less then $3.50 per bu. there is still a 50% savings by burning corn. For every $1.00 of LP. used in a 90% high ffiiciency furnace / .50 cents of corn will heat the same amount. However I am convinced heating with corn is not for everyone, there is corn to carry in, ashes to carry out, a stove to maintain, clean, etc. All this can be enjoyable and very rewarding with the right equipment, and commitment to a good simple maintenance schedule. That is why we have included the "Cougar" ash vac as standard equipment with every stove that leaves our store. We want your experience with burning corn to be an enjoyable and rewarding time. An experience that not only saves you money, but one that you can look forward to every season.
Check out the fuel price chart link above and see for your self. Corn would have to go to over $7.50 to be equal in BTU out put at todays LP $1.89 price. |
